Rema Raphael, a nurse from Mashabo Village, shared her takeaways from the training, stating, “The two days were very informative and made very clear how as to how medical personnel like myself can be more vigilant for GBV survivors, providing care and be able to impart preventative approaches in my village.”

The comprehensive training has equipped the Region 2 nurses with the necessary skills and knowledge to better identify, support, and refer GBV survivors in their communities. This initiative is a crucial step in ensuring that medical professionals are equipped to provide a compassionate and effective response to those affected by this prevalent issue.

The four day training will continue tomorrow when the law enforcement officers will begin their Local Engagement and Action Fund – LEAF  and  High Commission of Canada to Guyana and Suriname sponsored training.
