The NGO National Coordinating Coalition on Gender-Based Violence (NGO NCCC) has launched a regional outreach effort this week, with a team stationed in Kumaka in Barima Waini (Region One). Over the next five days, the NCC’s GBV team will visit five villages in the region – Kamwatta, Six Miles, Kaiarie, Cartmarket, and Hurudiah.

The team is comprised of legal, psychosocial counselling, case management, and technology experts:
– Attorney-at-Law Mr. Hugh Park
– Counselor Ms. Griffith from partner agency United Brick Layers (Region 6)
– GBV Specialist Ms. Buedeen Williams
– GBV Case Navigators Ms. Nichola Richards and Ms. Vanessa Holder

– ICT Specialist Mr. Ishaka Jackman

The Community Support Officer (CSO) Ms. Jemima Franci will provide local guidance for the team.

The purpose of these community visits is to engage with migrants and other key populations, providing services, information materials, and support related to gender-based violence , Xenophobia and other related issues. The NCC GBV team will be distributing care hampers as well during their stops in the five villages.

This coordinated outreach aims to raise awareness, offer resources, and assist survivors of gender-based violence in these remote communities. The villages were selected based on data gather by the CSO indicating higher risks and needs in those areas.

The NCC’s team approach allows them to extend their services beyond the capital and connect with key population in the country’s far-flung regions. Stay tuned for updates as the team makes their way through Barima Waini this week.
