The NGO  National Coordinating Coalition has wrapped up an impactful two-day Gender-Based Violence (GBV) training program for a group of Mahdia Region 8’s law enforcement officers and first responders.

Over a dozen participants from the region’s police force, Community Policing Group and Guyana Fire Service completed the intensive workshop aimed at building their capacity to address and respond to incidents of GBV.

Through interactive sessions, officers gained critical skills in trauma-informed interviewing, evidence collection, legal protocols, referral pathways and survivor-centered care.

Role-playing exercises enabled participants to practice newly acquired techniques for handling crises with empathy. Attendees reported feeling better equipped to conduct investigations thoroughly, make appropriate referrals, and extend support to victims in alignment with due process.

“The trainers were excellent, this will have a significant impact on how our team implements response mechanisms surrounding GBV within Mahdia,” said Inspector Noel. Who also expressed gratitude on behalf of Divisional Commander Mr Khalid Mandall.
