GENERAL INFORMATION
ChildLinK works towards the protection of children against abuse and exploitation, including physical, sexual, emotional, neglect and commercial. Their Mission is to empower children, families and communities, and supports government, to provide the best environment for children to develop to their fullest potential. Founded September 9th 2009, as EveryChild Guyana, and later localized as ChildLink Inc. It continues to Advocate for children’s rights, empowering parents and works to strengthen protection networks, systems, policies, procedures and approaches for further impact on the cause
Speciality of Activities
- Child Protection sensitization and awareness activities within schools, communities, work places.
- Advocacy and public awareness campaigns to promote the rights of the child nationally with the aim of reducing the incidence of abuse.
- Capacity –Building and Training,
- Parenting Skills Education Training
- Training and technical support to partners to strengthen child protection policies, systems and practices for the social protection of children.
Community Health & Social Services
- Developing and training Youth Advocates/Mentors (YAMs) in the areas of gender based violence, HIV/AIDS, conflict prevention and conflict transformation, anger management, self esteem building, children’s rights and responsibilities, etc.
- Child Care Counselling
- Advocacy and public awareness campaigns to promote the rights of the child nationally with the aim of reducing the incidence of abuse.
- Forensic Interview for Sexually abused victims
Future Goals
ChildLinK will continue to use a rights-based approach to achieve positive changes in the lives of vulnerable children in the short-term and to contribute to the long-term development of Guyana’s child protection system and transformation of society’s knowledge, attitudes and behaviours with regard to children’s rights to protection from abuse, exploitation and violence.
