-Bringing Critical Medical Services to Region One Communities

The NGO National Coordinating Coalition Inc, in partnership with the Ministry of Health National TB and HIV Programs is conducting a five days outreach to Region One Barima Waini. The team is led by Dr. Quacy Grant and supported by Knester Castello, Disease Control Supervisor, Arielle Gordon Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, GBV Case Navigator Vanessa Holder and ICT Consultant of the NGO NCC.

Targeted Community Screening

On day two the team conducted comprehensive health screening in the Annabissi Settlement Kaituma River , Arakaka  Village and Port Kaituma area.Our dedicated healthcare team embarked on a crucial mission to provide essential medical testing and support to remote communities . The outreach focused on two critical health concerns:

Tuberculosis Screening
– 14 individuals from the Annabissi Settlement and 6 individuals at Arakaka Village underwent thorough tuberculosis screening
– Our medical professionals conducted comprehensive examinations to detect and address potential TB cases one of whom was taken to the Port Kaituma District Hospital for further tests and care.

HIV Testing
– A total of 26 community members were tested for HIV
– In Port Kaituma, our specialized National AIDS program trained HIV Counselor Testers Simone Smith-Stephen and Denzil Crawford conducted additional targeted testing
– Special attention was given to vulnerable populations, including commercial sex workers, to ensure comprehensive health coverage
