Earlier this week, the NGO NCC Gender Based Violence Case Navigators delivered an impactful presentation at the Social Life Issues Summer Program held at South Sophia Farmers Field. The week-long event saw the participation of 35 teenagers who are about to embark on their high school journey.
Two experienced case navigators led the session, focusing on crucial topics that these young adults will likely encounter in their new academic environment:
- Ms. Nichola Richards addressed the expectations for transitioning to secondary school. Her talk centered on:
- Dealing with aggression
- Handling conflicts effectively
- Anger management techniques
- Ms. Vanessa Holder tackled the sensitive yet vital subjects of:
- Xenophobia
- Discrimination
- Strategies for dealing with these issues
This presentation aimed to equip the young participants with essential life skills and awareness as they prepare for the challenges and opportunities that high school presents. By addressing these topics head-on, the NGO is taking proactive steps to foster a more inclusive, understanding, and harmonious school environment for the upcoming generation.
The Social Life Issues Summer Program continues to play a crucial role in preparing youth for the social aspects of their educational journey, complementing their academic preparation with vital life skills.
