– Aims to improve young people’s knowledge of their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SHR), including the prevention of HIV and other STIs
The Spouses of CARICOM Leaders Action Network (SCLAN) which was established in 2018, received support from Gilead Sciences Inc. for a joint project in Guyana and Belize to improve young people’s knowledge of their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SHR), including the prevention of HIV and other STIs. The Guyana Project was developed and implemented by the Anira Foundation. Based on feedback received from young people and leaders in the targeted communities, and in order to facilitate continuity in the sharing of knowledge, the Foundation developed this Manual to provide leaders and teachers with the tools and skills needed to guide conversations and facilitate meaningful youth engagement through a partnered peer-to-peer support methodology.
This Manual consists of two parts:
1. A Facilitator’s Guide
2. Notes for the Participants
The Notes for the Participants mirror the Facilitator’s Guide but will have less information and more activities that will accompany the information shared during the training sessions.

ABOUT SCLAN
The Spouses of CARICOM Leaders Network (SCLAN) was the brainchild of Mrs. Kim Simplis-Barrow – spouse of Hon. Dean Barrow, former Prime Minister of Belize – who brought together the spouses of CARICOM Leaders at that time, who had the common vision of helping to improve the lives of the people of CARICOM, sharing knowledge, increasing collaboration and enhancing the Community’s profile at the national, regional and international levels.
There was consensus that SCLAN would facilitate continuity in its efforts to improve the lives of the people of CARICOM while engaging with like-minded institutions and organizations in the pursuit of its objectives. Following a meeting in the margins of the Inter-Sessional Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government held in Georgetown, Guyana in February 2018, SCLAN was officially established in Belize in September 2018 at which Mrs. Barrow was elected Chair of the organization. Its Secretariat is located in Belize City, Belize.
During a simple handing over ceremony former first lady Ms. Sandra Granger presented a copy of the manuals to NGO NCC Inc Executive Director Ms. Simone Sills in the presence of Anira foundation member and NCC’s staff.
