Almost a dozen youths of the NCC literacy and community development program participated in and completed a week-long football camp a brainchild of former national footballer Vurlon Mills. This camp was held at the Saint Stanislaus Sports Club ground on Cariesta Avenue from 9 am-1 pm from the 10th – 15th of July. KFC Guyana part of the Beharry Group of Companies was the exclusive sponsor of this clinic.
The youths aged 4 to 14 were exposed to the fundamentals of football, basic discipline in sports, teamwork, team building, resolving conflicts on the field, and other life skills. They also engaged in off-the-field novelty games which was part of providing a rounded experience for the youths by the over 10 coaches and administrators of the Vurlon Mills Football Academy Inc.
At the closing ceremony, Mr. Mills expressed his gratitude to the sponsor, administrator, coaches, parents, and participants for making this camp a success. He also shared the joy he felt seeing the consistent enthusiasm on the faces of all the youths and their willingness to learn.

The camp culminates this week with a tournament being held within the age groups with the finals being held on Saturday 22nd July at the same venue. The action begins at 10 am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
