This morning the GBV team held a meeting with Divisional Commander Region 8 Mr. Khalid Mandall. This discussion was centered on the partnering with the NGO NCC on addressing GBV in the region.

He welcomed this interaction indicating the Guyana Police Force’s intention to have a multi-agency approach in this and other areas as part of their 5 year strategic plan. A regional GBV resource directory was handed over to the commander and information flyers were posted on the region’s headquarters and the outpost in the township.

An engagement with the immigration officers in the township was also facilitated. In this discourse some specific issues arising from our two-day interaction with the migrants were discussed and an initiative to alleviate some of the challenges was suggested.
This meeting brought to an end the Gender-Based Violence outreach and needs assessment in Region 8.
